Flatfish company Rodi part of Kramer Fish Group
URK – The Urk fishing company Rodi BV on Marsdiep 10 becomes part of the Kramer Fish Group. The partners Dirk Hogerwerf and Ronnie Hoefnagel stop at April 20, 2018. In 1991 Rodi was started by the colleague filleters Hogerwerf and Hoefnagel and grew over the years to become one of Urk’s largest plaice processors. Processing the fish in the factories are outsourced to its own employment agency, Reaal Fish. With two filleting machines, an average of 30 employees are working in the factory daily.
At the beginning of this year, at a meeting of the Association of Fish Wholesalers Urk, Hogerwerf offer its company for sale. After 27 years as a processor and broker, the motivation to continue independently has disappeared. ,, It is no longer fun to trade; low supply of plaice and high prices,” says Hogerwerf. Iede Kramer from Kramer Fish reported himself as a potential buyer, signing the deal last week. Hogerwerf will continue to work as a manager.
Iede Kramer from Kramer Fish has taken over a handful of processing plants on Urk in recent years and two years ago also became co-owner of the vessel P224 “Miranda”. Through the acquisition, Kramer Fish has control over the entire processing chain of the Plaice. This makes the chain more transparent and because of this more controle over the quality.
